Most Illustrious and Most Excellent Sir
The Council of Government of this Province have the honor to acknowledge the receipt
of Your Excellency's Despatch No 258 of the 3rd instant.
The Council avail themselves of this opportunity to acquaint Your Excellency that they much regret that the public service of the colony of Hongkong should have demanded the presence of the sloop "Amazon" there, and her consequent withdrawal from Macao Roads, as Captain Troubridge, Senior Naval Officer, signified to the Council.
The arrival of the "Amazon" at Macao not only contributed to give strength to this Government at the present juncture,
